At 21, Olivia Morley is poised to set the world alight. Graduating this Summer with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Mathematics and launching her band’s debut album, establishes a fantastic foundation for what is guaranteed to be a brilliant future.
At the age of 14, Olivia was given her first piano and started teaching herself through YouTube tutorials and before the year was out, had learnt over 100 songs and written some original tracks of her own.

She took her new found talent and started performing at Open Mic Nights across North Tyneside and Northumberland.

As Olivia explains “Learning music came to me as naturally as maths. I was able to pick up practically any tune relatively quickly, which extended my repertoire and gave me the confidence, early on, to start composing my own music and lyrics”.

In 2014, Just SO was born. Olivia met David Stanyer (Stan) at a buskers evening in Dudley and the two hit it off instantly. Previous to forming Just SO with Olivia, Stan (37) had worked full time as a Civil Servant and in his spare time was in local North East band The Longsands, which produced two original albums and built a good regional reputation. Stan left his full time job in 2014 to focus entirely on music, particularly Just SO.

Stan explains “As soon as I met Olivia I knew we could create a great sound together. We are from different generations, and therefore have a broad base of influencers and styles. However coming from different places makes our music really unique and pretty special. “

Oliva would say her key influencers were big divas such as Beyonce and Celine Dion, leading to Fleetwood Mac and Queen whereas Stan’s eclectic mix of influencers include guitarists such as Eric Clapton and B.B.King and bands such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

When asked what makes Oliva & Stan AKA Just SO special, they believe they have great chemistry on stage and equaly strong vocals & harmonies.
“The most frequent question we are asked is if we are a couple! And if we are singing about each other” says Stan.

Stan & Olivia have been working hard on their debut Album for two years and are set to celebrate its summer release with a special live performance of the whole album on Thursday September 22nd at The Exchange, North Shields. There are 12 tracks across the album, with a mixed genre of pop, indie and country rock. The songs are about love in the main – how relationships impact on us in a good and bad way! There are also a few tracks exploring the aspiration to achieve.

Olivia adds “We wanted to make an album of greatest hits where the listener wouldn't want to skip a track, and I feel we achieved that. I would say the tracks are good old fashioned pop songs, they're not offensive or political but are reflective of who and where we are today.
Stan has brought his experience and contacts to Just SO, and last year successfully expanded the band with new members including Gareth Dixon on Bass and Paul Reed on Drums.

Vs - Debut 3 Track EP...

Emerging Leeds (UK) alt/grunge/garage rockers 'Vs' release their debut 3 track 'Reality?' EP release (19th June 2017) via their bandcamp www.vstheworld.bandcamp.com

Art moves in cycles. The last few decades have seen the world re-visit the swinging '60's, the psychedelic '70's, and the electric '80's, bringing us up to.... now. Re-visiting the grunge scene with an injection of something just a bit more special comes Vs. this all new, all original, Leeds (UK) based act come packed with echoes of Sound Garden, early Pearl Jam and Nirvana, and blended with the tones of a disenfranchised and forgotten era.

Featuring Bear on bass, Dave 'Ego' Branigan on drums and Neil 'Shortie' Short on guitar and vox, Vs. is the product of years of industry experience, pouring from previous success with Further From the Truth, My Older Ego and Monster Jaw to name but a few. With their debut single, Listen, already taking the US airwaves by storm, they're now poised for the release of the crushing EP, 'Reality?'.

Vs. the past, Vs. the future, Vs. the system - become part of the movement. www.facebook.com/VsTheMusic and www.twitter.com/VsTheWorldBand

Durham Blues Festival - More for 2017...

Bradford (UK) based duo 'They Called Him Zone' deliver news of their latest edition to the acts self-produced discography. The mini album 'Crow Swan Wolf' shall be their first release of 2017 and a sonically darker follow up to last years acclaimed 'Miami' EP.
Available from their Bandcamp page on Monday 20th Feb 2017, the 6 track offering demonstrates the musical mavericks flirting with an alchemy of influences pulled from dark-wave, post-punk, goth rock, psychedelia, electro pop and new-wave. The act consisting of Mik Davis and Steve Maloney mesh together a seductively hypnotic world of synth grooves, twisted guitar sounds, electronic beats and melodic vocal hooks. The chemistry between the creators has propelled They Called Him Zone on to radio airwaves across the globe and secured respect from underground media and fans alike.
