Festive cheer as singer - announces Christmas show...
Whickham-born singer Anna Reay will be ringing in the festive season after announcing a one off Christmas show at the Sage Gateshead.
‘Anna Reay at Christmas’, will take place in Sage Two on December 6, 2018 and follows on from the success of her previous Sage Gateshead sell out show One Enchanted Evening last year, and Great Ladies of Song.
The classically trained songstress was inspired to create the show after receiving requests from her followers to record a Christmas EP which she has completed in time for the event.
She said: “I’ve always loved Christmas and since having my 4-year-old son, I make sure I am back to spend the season at home with my family. I love performing in my home town and recording the EP throughout August has got me prematurely excited for Christmas, even with the glorious heatwave we’ve had.”
Featuring a glittering line-up of special guests including soulful Britain’s Got Talent 2017 semi-finalist Jamie Lee Harrison and award-winning king of swing Chris Dakers, the show will be packed with an eclectic mix of Christmas classics and duets including ‘Baby it’s cold outside’, ‘All I Want for Christmas’, ‘Santa Baby’, ‘Let it Snow’ and ‘O Holy Night’ to bring festive cheer in time for Christmas.
Ms Reay added: “Throughout my career I have been fortunate enough to meet and work with some very talented musicians so I am delighted that our special guests have agreed to join us in helping get everyone into the spirit of Christmas.
“Family, friends, music and dancing is a perfect combination to kick-off the celebrations in style.”
The recent announcement of iconic Christmas crooner Mariah Carey’s three date UK tour in Nottingham, Leeds and London hasn’t deterred Anna’s enthusiasm for her show teasing that if people cannot get tickets to Carey’s show, they are all welcome at hers.
“I’ll be singing a few classics from Mariah Carey so if you can’t get tickets to her show, you can come to ours for a more intimate night out!” she added.
Since her debut performances over her 12-year career in various venues across the North East, the 36-year old singer has embarked on extensive tours of the UK, Europe and the USA as well as luxury Caribbean and Mediterranean cruise liners, and has sang arias in front of thousands at football matches.
There will be collection buckets on the night in aid of Anna’s chosen charity, Panache Group, the North East awareness charity for Alopecia.
Tickets are *£20 and are available from Sage Gateshead ticket office on 0191 443 4661 or visit www.sagegateshead.com

TRIO 'RAYNE' - HEADLINE INDEPENDENT THIS AUGUST ...
Anthemic alt-rock outfit RAYNE have announced their home-town headline show at the Independent in Sunderland on August 26th 2018.
The band who's sound appeals to fans and followers of The Killers, 30 Seconds To Mars, Muse, Imagine Dragons and Coldplay will be parading new album material for release this year, along side familiar tracks from their 2017 album 'Complex By Design' plus many older songs from the bands archives.
As ambitious and uncompromising as ever, the stalwarts of the North-East music scene have recently released 'Silently Screaming' A single that is available to stream for free and one that delivers a melodically addictive dose of what you'd expect from the guys; seismic guitar tones, multi-layered synths, driving rock rhythms, earworm hook-lines and epic stadium rock overtones. Having wielded their craft for over 20 years together, RAYNE allies Ben Potts (Vox/Bass), Adam Dagg (Guitar/Synths) and Steven 'Nez' Naisbet (Drums/Samples) are a formidable force and creative unit. Melding traditional guitar band tropes with fresher electronic sounds, RAYNE are poised to deliver more music this year - that may well cement their reputation as a band who relentlessly push the boundaries of their musical direction.
