THEY CALLED HIM ZONE - REVEAL 'CROW SWAN WOLF' ALBUM RELEASE...
Bradford (UK) based duo 'They Called Him Zone' deliver news of their latest edition to the acts self-produced discography. The mini album 'Crow Swan Wolf' shall be their first release of 2017 and a sonically darker follow up to last years acclaimed 'Miami' EP.
Available from their Bandcamp page on Monday 20th Feb 2017, the 6 track offering demonstrates the musical mavericks flirting with an alchemy of influences pulled from dark-wave, post-punk, goth rock, psychedelia, electro pop and new-wave. The act consisting of Mik Davis and Steve Maloney mesh together a seductively hypnotic world of synth grooves, twisted guitar sounds, electronic beats and melodic vocal hooks. The chemistry between the creators has propelled They Called Him Zone on to radio airwaves across the globe and secured respect from underground media and fans alike.

Charity Gig in Aid Of - St Cuthbert’s Hospice
Featuring Two Great Local Bands – After Midnight & The Fix
Durham Gala Theatre, Tuesday 21 February 2017
A Charity Gig will be held at Durham Gala Theatre in February to raise funds for one of the best-loved hospices in the Durham area – St Cuthbert’s Hospice, Durham. The show will feature two popular local bands – The Fix and After Midnight who will each be performing sets of 60’s and 70’s classic pop & rock hits.
The gig will take place at Durham Gala Theatre on Tuesday 21 February. Doors open 7pm, First band (The Fix) on stage 7.30pm. Tickets priced £10 are available from the box office, Tel: 03000 266600 and on-line at www.galadurham.co.uk Fans are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
The Fix are a 4-piece band from Chester-le-Street which includes three Knowles brothers – Tom, Robin (lead guitar) & Peter (bass) plus drummer & “soul brother” Terry Goulding. They originally came together as Tom’s Thumbs in the sixties. Front-man and lead vocalist Tom Knowles also plays guitar and keyboards. In the seventies he was in two very successful recording bands Kestrel & Goldie. Kestrel were one of the first progressive rock bands who made a self-titled album which achieved cult status and has recently been re-released in Japan. Goldie had an international hit record “Making Up Again” and Tom appeared on Top of The Pops with the band. The Fix will perform an entertaining set of 60’s covers including hits by The Who, Creation, Bob Dylan, The Kinks and many more.
After Midnight performed their first gig in December 1985 in Newcastle. Since then there have been many highlights, including support slots with Doctor Feelgood, Steve Marriott & Jethro Tull. They are best known for their Eric Clapton tribute concerts under the name CLASSIC CLAPTON. In 2015 they undertook a 30th Anniversary UK Tour which culminated in a sold out concert at Sage Gateshead. In recent years they have performed throughout the UK & Ireland including concerts at The Royal Festival Hall, London and a triumphant appearance at Glastonbury Festival in 2002. They have performed numerous gigs in Europe including Spain, Estonia, Holland and France. In 2009 they appeared in Mumbai. They were honored to be invited back for 3 more concerts in India in January 2016.
TYNE TEES TELEVISION made a programme about them called 'COVER THEIR TRACKS'. They filmed the band's concert at Newcastle Opera House, in front of 600 fans. It was shown in 2000 leading to national recognition.
After Midnight also comprises 4 local musicians:- Mike Hall (lead vocals/guitar), Paul Warren (keyboards/ backing vocals), Danny Davison (drums) and Dave Robson (bass guitar /backing vocals). Dave is a former member of chart band Geordie. In fact he was with them at the time Brian Johnson left to join AC/DC. Front-man Mike was born in Durham and attended Durham Johnston School. Many of Mike’s friends and family still live in and around Durham City. Paul is from Darlington and Danny & Dave are from Newcastle.
For this special charity gig After Midnight will be performing covers of music by The Beatles, The Eagles, Free, Steely Dan, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton and a number of 60’s and 70’s classics. They will even include at least one of Dave’s original compositions. NB: this will NOT be an Eric Clapton Tribute Gig.
Most of After Midnight’s previous appearances at the Gala Theatre have sold out but they have not appeared there since 2014. Both bands have a large following in the Durham area so demand should be high especially when the purpose of the show is to raise much needed funds for such a worthy cause.
Hospice, Merryoaks, Durham opened in 1988.
Initially the Hospice offered day care
two days per week, and over the years it expanded to offer care each
weekday. Major changes came in September 2006, with the opening of a
ten bed In Patient Unit following a fundraising campaign. The
extension allowed the Hospice to provide 24 hour care for the first
time. Since opening, the unit has cared for over 500 people, proving
that there was a great need for the services on offer. Their mission
is to make every day count for those affected by life-limiting
illnesses and to provide all-embracing, compassionate and
individualised care to all those affected by life-limiting
illnesses, at a time and a place that is right for them

NEW RECORD LABEL - STATIK RECORDS...
Statik Records is a brand-new record label producing great Drum and Bass music right here in the North East.
We have a presence across several forms of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and You-Tube. Our Facebook page has gained over 160 likes in this week alone and we are keen to keep building interest in the music we’re producing.
Our first song, “Secrets,” produced by founder Matty Stokoe, 20, has already received air time on BBC Radio Newcastle thanks to Nick Roberts, and is currently available on iTunes and Spotify.
Statik Records has brought together a variety of students together as part of the project from across the North East and beyond, and we’re determined to make it a success.
For example, “Secrets” has a music video created by David Bell, a filmmaking student at Manchester University.
The video has been viewed over 2000 times on Facebook as of 14/11/2016.
Hexham-born Matty is a second-year music student at Sunderland University. As well as producing music, he is also a singer/songwriter and has performed at venues across the North East.
Website design, our social media campaign and publicity are also being handled by students from Northumbria university.
We have three more songs, also produced by Matty, set to be released in the coming weeks.
Our label is looking to sign up talented, up and coming local artists and give them a method of distributing their work.
The formation of this record label is a serious signal of intent – hopefully, it is the first step on the road to success.
